What to Wear & Bring

Forest school runs in most weather, so dressing appropriately is important.

Please bring:

  • Waterproof coat and trousers

  • Wellies or sturdy outdoor footwear

  • Warm layers in colder months

  • Sun hat and sun cream in warmer weather

  • A spare change of clothes (just in case!)

We embrace muddy hands, wet feet, and adventurous play.

Our Forest School Principles

At Staffordshire Moorlands Forest School, our sessions are guided by key forest school principles:

  • Child‑led learning – children choose how they engage, explore, and play

  • Learning through nature – using the woodland and natural materials as our classroom

  • Supported risk‑taking – helping children build confidence and resilience safely

  • Holistic development – supporting physical, emotional, social, and creative growth

  • Regular and reflective practice – sessions adapt to children’s needs, interests, and the seasons
